In water too deep

Where my feet don't touch bottom

Controlling panic

That can definitely be a very alarming moment, for sure. Sometimes, swimming pools, and the sea, drop down into the deeper water very unexpectedly... 🏯😎🏯

I will go any where in a boat, as long as I can keep one foot on the shore.

Pet fish swim and sway

Till one day, they pass through the…

…chambers of your heart.

Haha! A fun, unexpected ending! Pet fish are very therapeutic and relaxing to watch, and are actually surprisingly intelligent, and can recognise their owner and things just like other pets do... 🏯😎🏯

Lovely! And after the tenth lap, I'd also be hoping a stiff drink was available! Haha! Thanks for joining in... 🏯😎🏯

I had to prove I could swim before I could dive from the diving board. It wasn't all that deep, but I had to convince the lifeguard. Good thing I float well.

Ahh, well I suppose they have to be cautious, especially with diving boards. The low ones are fine, but I definitely never liked the look of those ones that are 10 metres high! Haha... 🏯😎🏯

"Slapping the water

is a poor way to thank it

for letting you float."

Slightly autobiographical. This is what the coach told me, almost word for word, during high school swim team tryouts. I did not make the team, and my freestyle technique has only worsened since.

A Pod Of Haiku

Deep water problem

Couldn’t see it coming near

Swimming for my life

Some say it’s swimming

Standing in shallow water

Holding a cold beer

Beach bods of all kinds

Not worrying how they look

Enjoying warm waves

Office politics

Keeps rearing its ugly head

Swimming for my life

An excellent Pod! I particulary liked the repetition of "swimming for my life", and how it was used in both a literal and metaphorical way. Very nice... 🏯😎🏯

I tried the three verse style but couldn't seem to get the spaces between each section to look correct, so I separated them with dashes.

Languid dark coils lurk

Uneasily evading

Fishermen at quays.

-------------

Laughter in the sun,

Joy-filled days stilled under fear,

Stolen into murk.

------------------

Sliding between docks,

Trailing sharp failed hooks

Coils find careless feet.
