Welcome to the ‘House of Haiku’, where the challenge is to create something inspired by the Prompt below using only 17 syllables, laid out in three lines, containing five, seven, and five syllables respectively.
Let’s have some fun writing together!
On this day, in 1922, Johnny Weissmuller became the first man to swim the 100-metre freestyle in under one minute. He went on to represent the US at the Olympics, in both 1924 and 1928, winning five Gold Medals and one Bronze, before achieving worldwide fame as an actor, playing the definitive version of 'Tarzan' in a series of twelve films, featuring his instantly recognisable, ululating jungle call, which was created using a recording of his natural yell played back in reverse.
And so, our Prompt for this week is: SWIMMING
Some fun in the pool,
Splashing around, just make sure,
You dive the right end…
My new book ‘50/50’, featuring fifty stories, all of which are exactly fifty words, is available now on Amazon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.

In water too deep
Where my feet don't touch bottom
Controlling panic
Splash dance in the pool
Wet wild frenzied water waves.
Leaves me feeling cool.
