Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is part of a series where the narratives are built around song titles. Each story features a selection of songs from the back catalogue of a different band or solo artist, and the words in caps are the names of those songs. More volumes are on the way very soon... 😎
It has been a little tricky to pick which music artists to use, for sure. I'm trying to have a good mix of genres and eras so there's something for everyone. The first volume had The Beach Boys, The Doobie Brothers and Fleetwood Mac. And there's even some Ozzy Osbourne coming up later! Haha... 😎
It’s really unique and fun! Like a good challenge! Where are you in England? I’m from Rochford in Essex. Came to the states when I was three. It’s evening here! Hope you have a lovely weekend :)
Oh wow. Essex is not far from me. I'm in London. It's already Saturday morning here, so I'm writing to you from the future! Haha. I've always found that fascinating how the same moment around the world, can be so many different times of day, or even a different day entirely. Have a great weekend... 😎
And now we're both experiencing Saturday! It's a terrible thing, dementia. It's sadly invaded my family in the past, as well. I have a story on here, actually, about someone who is dealing with it and finding comfort in revisiting one particular memory. It's called 'The Red Carpet'. I hope your uncle gets a chance to meet their new grandchild. My belief with these things, is that even though the mind may not be aware of what is happening anymore, the heart always is... 😎
Yes, you're probably right, in the sense that it is a little optimistic to assume we'd even have the opportunity to start again somewhere new, especially somewhere that's as readily inhabitable as this is. But this is more about illustrating the point that there would be no need to start again so soon, if we hadn't been so neglectful of what we already had. Thanks for reading. I'll be posting some more Song Title Fiction soon... 😎
Yes, I realise that, I didn't mean to decry the poem. It is my realism, (pessimis according to many, taking over) I look forward to your future conmtributions.
Thanks! I welcome all comments here, and completely understand the pessimistic viewpoint. We have got ourselves into a very dire situation. The Earth was always going to become uninhabitable eventually, because that's just the nature of the way the Sun is evolving, but we're definitely needlessly accelarating the moment some sort of ending will come... 😎
Thanks! I love experimenting with stories, and genres, and exploring new directions, because you never know what they might lead to. I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎
I never know where your stories will take me. This time I don't want to be left on earth or get on that transport ship. Think I'll go listen to some Green Day.
Thanks, Rod! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The songs seemed to be suggesting a sci-fi theme, so I went that way with it. And then the word 'green' in their name drew me towards an environmental plotline. This was a really interesting one to work on, and I'm really pleased it ended up being so thought-provoking... 😎
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. With this band having 'green' in the name, it seemed to make sense to slip an environmental message in there, and base the story around that... 😎
Seems to lead to more. Not sure why some words are in all caps. Looking forward to a follow up.

Gee, I had no idea. Cool. And I must be totally out of touch with that genre of music. I didn’t recognize any of those as song titles. Sigh.

Love this Chris!! Very clever 🙌🏻
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is a really fun format to write for, and I'm hoping to build up a little collection of them on here... 😎

I find that crazy too! I'm heading to bed soon and you're on with the day! You are in my oldest son's birthday timeframe and we are not! 😅
Hoping to get home soon. My poor uncle is in a nursing home for dementia and his son & wife just had their first baby. Life. I want to hug my uncle 😔

Unfortunately, too romantic or, perhaps, optimistic a scene of humanity's demise. Nicely put together, all the same. Thanks for sharing.
Take care. Stay safe. ☮️

I will agree with Treasa -- I never know where your stories will take me, but I love them all the same. This is great, Chris!

Hopefully, a few Green Day songs, or at least some form of music, were among the items that were still salvageable! Thanks for reading... 😎
Story and message conveyed so well via the Green Day titles! Spot on Chris🙌🏻. Off to read some more in the series right now!
Thanks! There's two volumes of these so far, but more will be coming eventually. I'm glad you enjoyed the story and the message... 😎
So cool!
Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it...
Wow, Chris! This is great! It's a cool story with a message and a ton of song titles. Well done!

It’s one to be especially proud of.
Wonderful and intriguing, Chris! The suspense builds and the message sets the stage…

Good thinking! It works well as both image and theme.
