On this day, in 1998, Microsoft released 'Windows 98'. A significant step forward in the operating system's evolution, it introduced key features and innovations that have remained a familiar part of subsequent versions, such as multi-monitor support to expand the usable workspace, as well as the highly useful ability to download regular improvements to the software through Windows Update.
