Alien 👽 is a

Resident out there!

And if they are out there, hopefully they'll stay out there! Haha! That's another amazing Sci-Fi movie, though, for sure. And funnily enough, I happen to have a Haiku about it...

Humans love babies!

So why all the sad faces?

Oh right, the chest thing... 🏯👽😎👽🏯

The television show "V" came out when I was preggers with my second child. It was very similar to "Alien" in some ways, and the sight of a baby lizard being pulled out of a woman's belly fueled a lot of nightmares!

Well, it was a little late by the time I saw that scene! 🤣 By then a baby was coming, whether I was ready or not! They turned out okay, though, and not a lizard in the lot... 🐉

Hmmmm.... maybe. I'll wait and see what kind of prompts Scoot tosses out for this week's Flash Fiction Friday. Though I have a soft spot for monsters, so it would have to have a happy ending of course!

You tend to steer to politics. Trying to keep this fun. I have a long rebut to this but don't want to get sucked in.

Carole Roseland's avatar

I try to avoid politics, too, but the way things are going, it’s getting very difficult. The prompt word did not take me to the x-files immediately, although I watched every episode. As a very human, amateur, part-time poet, this prompt took me the direction it did because we are dealing with “aliens” in our midst. If all we can ever do is write pretty poetry and happy haikus, are we free in this country? Or do we get canceled and fired for free expression or what we think. This is still America, I think, but I’m beginning to wonder.

A.C. Cargill, All-Human Author's avatar

Okay, I now feel free to dive in. This can’t be one-sided. This haiku event is meant to be fun. We can express the politics elsewhere. Please don’t spoil this. As for your take on what’s going on, you are misconstruing the word “alien” as many people do. If you want to continue this discussion, best to do it away from this haiku post.

Folks who possess a sense of humor; and

I dislike the way it removes the spaces between the haikus.

A few more....

Music from the stars

Eyes open wide in wonder

Heard not understood

From far far away

They laugh loud at what they see

Laughter fuels their homes

Rocks and meteors

Hurled from deep uncharted space

Barely miss the earth

A world of wonders

Thinking slowly minds devolve

Alien in thought
