And if they are out there, hopefully they'll stay out there! Haha! That's another amazing Sci-Fi movie, though, for sure. And funnily enough, I happen to have a Haiku about it...
The television show "V" came out when I was preggers with my second child. It was very similar to "Alien" in some ways, and the sight of a baby lizard being pulled out of a woman's belly fueled a lot of nightmares!
Well, it was a little late by the time I saw that scene! 🤣 By then a baby was coming, whether I was ready or not! They turned out okay, though, and not a lizard in the lot... 🐉
Hmmmm.... maybe. I'll wait and see what kind of prompts Scoot tosses out for this week's Flash Fiction Friday. Though I have a soft spot for monsters, so it would have to have a happy ending of course!
Ahh, tinfoil hats! That's a fun one! It's definitely intriguing, though, to think that some of the UFO sightings over the years may have been real. But of course, a lot of them were probably just frisbees. Haha... 🏯😎🏯
Haha! Some great memories there! There's been some fun depictions of aliens over the years, for sure. Marvin the Martian was another one. And ALF. And Mork, of course, from 'Mork and Mindy'... 🏯😎🏯
Absolutely! It is nice to believe we're not alone in the universe, and that there's something else out there. As long as they're friendly, of course! Haha... 🏯😎🏯
Well, we can only hope she doesn't mix those two up! Although, a Xenomorph vacuuming the rugs would be quite the spectacle! Haha! Thanks for joining in... 🏯😎🏯
Good 😊ne Carole! I love a good play on words. And yes, the humanity of the immigrant, whether lawful or otherwise must never be forgotten.
Illegitimum non carborundum means don't ever let the thought police around here get you down. Don't engage with them. They don't know better and never will.
I try to avoid politics, too, but the way things are going, it’s getting very difficult. The prompt word did not take me to the x-files immediately, although I watched every episode. As a very human, amateur, part-time poet, this prompt took me the direction it did because we are dealing with “aliens” in our midst. If all we can ever do is write pretty poetry and happy haikus, are we free in this country? Or do we get canceled and fired for free expression or what we think. This is still America, I think, but I’m beginning to wonder.
Okay, I now feel free to dive in. This can’t be one-sided. This haiku event is meant to be fun. We can express the politics elsewhere. Please don’t spoil this. As for your take on what’s going on, you are misconstruing the word “alien” as many people do. If you want to continue this discussion, best to do it away from this haiku post.
I was thinking more of the song “Hernando’s Hideaway” from Broadway musical “Pajamas Game” that I can’t get out of my head and alien lives happily ever after. But I like your interpretation too: nigh club.
There was an episode of Night Gallery called "The Caterpillar" (one of my faves) with Lawrence Harvey and Joanna Petit featuring such a critter. Eeeks!
Haha! That would've been very inconvenient, for sure. And of course, if he tried to phone home these days, it would probably go straight to voicemail! Thanks for joining in... 🏯😎🏯
Alien 👽 is a
Movie and possibly a
Resident out there!

Humans love babies!
So why all the sad faces?
Oh right, the chest thing... 🏯👽😎👽🏯

Wow!
You were so courageous to have children. God bless you and yours !

Ha ha!
Maybe it gave you a plot for a horror story !

Mulder got it right.

it's nice to believe.

Not from outer space
We call them all “illegals”
But they are humans
Very thought-provoking! It's incredibly sad the way we call ourselves human, and yet all too often treat each other in such inhuman ways... 🏯😎🏯
Best to keep this fun and away from politics. I don't feel able to respond appropriately to such nonsense.

You tend to steer to politics. Trying to keep this fun. I have a long rebut to this but don't want to get sucked in.

I looked up "out of line" in the dictionary and guess what it said!
Two for the price of one in honor of:
Carole's excellent haiku;
Free speech;
Substack as a free speech platform;
People who do not try to dictate to others what they may and may not write about, especially on someone else's platform;
Folks who possess a sense of humor; and
People who know where their hula hoop ends and someone else's begins
Think an alien
Has to be from outerspace?
Look in a mirror fob
Spare me your lecture
You leftist substack reader
Aliens go home!
Toughen up

There's a place deep-dark.
Alien ear worm has found.
Hernando's High-way.
That's a fascinating idea and image! An actual ear worm, being lured to a nightclub by the sound of a musical earworm. Haha... 🏯😎🏯

Yes. Believe Rod Serling Twilight Zone started with an ear wig critter that laid eggs on inside of head… enough said.
No, it was in his Night Gallery series which I have on DVD (also have TWZ).
Okay,, have not seen caterpillar.thanks for info.
You’re very welcome.

Thanks! That is much appreciated. I'm glad you're enjoying them... 🏯😎🏯
Just having fun with this poetry form! Whee!
Thank you for the shoutout.
You're very welcome! Have a great week... 🏯😎🏯
Try your hand at a haiku. Fun and easy. 3 lines: 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables
Damn green aliens!
They put a lien on my house
I'm in outer space...
That was funny!
Har!!
I dislike the way it removes the spaces between the haikus.
A few more....
Music from the stars
Eyes open wide in wonder
Heard not understood
From far far away
They laugh loud at what they see
Laughter fuels their homes
Rocks and meteors
Hurled from deep uncharted space
Barely miss the earth
A world of wonders
Thinking slowly minds devolve
Alien in thought
We add the spaces when we read! Great job!
Sometimes I feel
Alien in my own skin
A stranger to all
Ditto!
Across barren lands
Pyramids sleep frozen white
Reared before mankind
I thought my parents
Were from outer space. They're not,
But it would be cool.
It fell down from space
As spaceship flew overhead
Tasty when grilled crisp
Alien spelled right
Means uniqueness and insight.
Wrong: fear of strange tribes
