On this day, in 1982, the movie ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ was released in the US. Telling the story of a young boy who befriends an alien stranded on Earth, it went on to become the highest-grossing film of the decade, and has been hugely influential in shaping the landscape of family cinema, and Sci-Fi, ever since.
