THE HEAT
“It’s hot enough to scald a lizard…” - Colloquial saying, in the Southern US
We couldn’t believe how hot it was.
The day had barely started, and the heat was already incredibly stifling and ridiculously oppressive.
We could feel the sweat constantly forming on our brows, and our clothes were beginning to uncomfortably stick to us.
Even moving around in it took a huge amount of effort, and quickly became exhausting.
It was almost unbearable.
And by the time midday rolled around, we were close to passing out.
Which was when the Head Chef told us that working in a busy restaurant kitchen probably wasn’t going to be the right career choice for us…
This story was inspired by a Prompt from Erica Drayton, which you can find out more about here…
If you’ve enjoyed spending time here today, there’s lots more quirky humour, and fun to be had, waiting for you in my books.

I can always count on you for a good chuckle!
If you can’t take the heat, take your head out of the oven. Migrants still work, and build bridges and homes, and landscapes.
