THE FIRST WORD
Ahh.
That, or some form of it, was apparently the first word that ever passed the lips of a human being here on Earth. Though whether it was an 'ahh' of wonderment or an 'ahh' of exclamation as their toe was painfully stubbed on a rock we will never know. But either way, 'ahh' is what was said - or perhaps more accurately: grunted.
Others believe the first semblance of vocabulary that emanated from a set of vocal cords was likely to be something more akin to the sound of 'shh'. Though quite who this individual would have been telling to be quiet when no one else had ever spoken up to that point is anyone's guess.
But whatever was truly uttered as that initial component of what went on to become what we now know as language, it was undoubtedly the first step they took towards building a rapport and connection with those around them. Because that is what words are at their core: a way to bring us together and help us understand each other. A way to communicate ideas, ignite passions, forge friendships and romances and stimulate the mind.
And so it is, many milleniums since that first word came into being, that we find ourselves here in this moment where I am saying these words to you.
And those words are: hello and welcome.
Hello and welcome to these tales of the zeitgeist. This will be a place where you'll be able to enjoy regular content inspired by pop culture and the modern world, mostly in the form of exclusive fiction and articles. It will also be a place where you can discover more about my books and where we can hopefully have some fun and engaging discussions about the various topics we'll be delving into.
Some of it might make you laugh. Some of it might be thought-provoking. And some of it might even make you say 'ahh'.
But hopefully not 'shh'!
